મહિનાના નામ

Ancient calendars were lunar calendars i.e. based on Moon. Each lunar month had 30 days as average days between each new moon day is around 29.5. And a calendar year has 12 months. During Roman empire, solar calendar was adopted and i.e. based on Sun. The calendar evolved through many changes over the time during the Roman empire to a 365.25 days a year. This calendar later became popular as Julian Calendar. A refinement to these calendar was done to have present day calendar which is known as Gregorian calendar. Gregorian calendar has twelve months and they are known as:

પ્રાચીન કૅલેન્ડર્સ ચંદ્ર પર આધારિત હતા. દરેક નવા ચંદ્ર દિવસ (અમાસ) વચ્ચે સરેરાશ 29.5 દિવસની આસપાસ હોય છે એટલે દરેક ચંદ્ર મહિનાના 30 દિવસ હતા. અને એક કેલેન્ડર વર્ષમાં 12 મહિના. રોમન સામ્રાજ્ય દરમિયાન, સૌર કૅલેન્ડર અપનાવવામાં આવ્યું હતું અને એટલે સૂર્ય પર આધારિત કૅલેન્ડર. આ કૅલેન્ડરમાં રોમન સામ્રાજ્ય દરમિયાન ઘણા ફેરફારો દ્વારા વિકાસ થયો. આ કૅલેન્ડર પછી જુલિયન કેલેન્ડર તરીકે લોકપ્રિય બન્યા હતા. આ કૅલેન્ડરમાં નાના પણ મહતવન સુધારા કરી આજના ગ્રેગોરિયન કેલેન્ડર તરીકે અપનાવવામાં આવ્યું . ગ્રેગોરિયન કેલેન્ડરમાં બાર મહિના હોય છે અને તેઓને નિમ્નોક્ત રીતે ઓળખવામાં આવે છે:

ચાંપાનેર, વડોદરાથી 47 કી.મી. ઉત્તર-પૂર્વમાં આવેલ ઐતિહાસિક નગર છે. આ નગરની સ્થાપના 8મી સદીમાં રાજા વનરાજ ચાવડાએ કરી હતી. તેનું નામકરણ વનરાજના મંત્રી અને મિત્ર ચંપા પરથી કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.  કુદરતી સૌન્દર્યથી ભરપૂર એવી પાવાગઢની તળેટીમાં વસેલા આ નગરને 15મી સદીમાં મહમૂદ બેગડા દ્વારા જીતી લેવામાં આવ્યું.

મહમૂદે આ નગરને નવેસરથી વસાવી, તેને ફરતે કિલ્લો બંધાવ્યો, નવા સ્થાપત્યો બંધાવ્યા, નગરને મુહંમદાબાદ નામ આપ્યું અને ગુજરાતની રાજધાની અમદાવાદથી ખસેડીને અહી સ્થાપિત કરી. મહમૂદના શાસનકાળમાં આ નગરની સમૃદ્ધિ ચરમસીમાને પામતી હતી.

મહમૂદના મૃત્યુના થોડા વર્ષો બાદ સત્તા પરિવર્તન અંને રાજકીય કારણોસર રાજધાની પાછી અમદાવાદ ખસેડવામાં આવી.

મહમૂદના કાળમાં બનાવવામાં આવેલ શહેરને ફરતે કિલ્લો, શહેરની મસ્જીદ, બે માળની બેનમૂન જામી મસ્જીદ, એક મીનાર મસ્જીદને પુરાતત્વની દ્રષ્ટિએ ખૂબ જ મહત્વ આપવામાં આવે છે. આ સ્થાપત્યોને UNESCO દ્વારા World Heritage Site તરીકે નવાજવામાં આવ્યા છે.

પ્રકૃતિપ્રેમી, ઈતિહાસરસિકો અને સાહસિક પ્રવાસીઓ માટે આ ઉત્તમ પર્યટન સ્થળ છે.

Champaner is a historic town, situated 47 km North - east from Vadodara. The city was founded in the 8th century by king Vanraj Chavda. This town was named after his minister and friend Champa. Town, full of natural beauty situated in the foothills of Pavagadh was conquered by Mahmood Begda in the 15th century.
 
Mahmood renewed fate of the town, he built citadel around the town, built new buildings, renamed it as Muhhamadabad and moved capital of Gujarat from Ahmedabad to here. In Mahmood's time the town's prosperity reached new heights.

A few years after Mahmood's death, due to the change of power and other political reasons the capital moved back to Ahmedabad.

The Citadel, the city mosque, two-storey iconic Jami Mosque, one minaret mosque built during Mahmood time have historic and archaeological significance. The architecture has been honored as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

This is one of the best tourist destination for nature-lovers, adventurous travelers and historians.

બેડલેન્ડ્સ નેશનલ પાર્ક - એ USAના સાઉથ ડકોટા રાજ્યમાં આવેલ પ્રદેશ છે. 2,42,756 એકરના આ વિશાળ પ્રદેશને રાષ્ટ્રીય સંરક્ષણ પ્રાપ્ત છે. જ્વાળામુખીથી ઉદભવેલા અને તીક્ષ્ણ ઘસારો પામેલા શિખરો-કુંદો અને મોટા લીલા ઘાસનાં મેદાન નું સંમિશ્રણ આ પ્રદેશની વિશેષતા છે.

બાઇસન (અમેરિકન ભેંસ) જેવા પ્રાણી અહીં વિશાળ માત્રામાં જોવા મળે છે, જયારે બ્લેક ફેરેટ જેવી લુપ્ત થઇ રહેલ પ્રજાતિ માટેનું અભયારણ્ય પણ આ જ ક્ષેત્રમાં આવેલ છે.  

સવાર અથવા સાંજના સૂર્યના કિરણો વચ્ચે  આ પ્રદેશમાંથી પ્રવાસ કરવો એ જીવનનો ઉત્તમ લહાવો છે. પ્રકાશની ધૂપ-છાંવ બેડલેન્ડ્સનાં શિખરોમાં નવી-નવી ભાત ઉભી કરે છે. કુદરતની આ વિશેષતાને ઓળખીને તેને સંરક્ષણ આપી પ્રવાસન યોગ્ય બનાવવા માટે સ્થાનીય પ્રશાસન અને વ્યવસ્થાને ધન્યવાદ આપવા ઘટે છે.

Badlands National Park is situated in South Dakota state of USA. It is 242,756 acres of protected land. Its specialty is beautiful blend of sharply eroded spires and peaks made from volcano and grass prairies. Different layers of hill displays different colors on spires. Animals like Bison (American Buffalo) are largely seen in this area. Some part of the Badlands is sanctuary for black ferret, one of the most endangered species of northern american continent.

Driving through Badlands during dawn or dusk with inclined sunlight is a "life-time" experience. Many congratulations to local administration and management for identifying and acknowledging natures beauty and protecting-promoting this place as a travel destination.

With start of winter its time for birds living in far away north to fly down to south. In northern hemisphere of the earth October to April is the colder season, during these season the places above the cancer line experiences lot of cold. Northern countries like Russia, Norway, Canada, Finland, Some part of China and India will have lot of snow fall. This will cause lot of drop in temperature and it make difficult for birds and animal to find food and shelter, Some animal prefer to go for hibernation while many of bird choose to fly down towards the south where the temperature is relatively warmer and food is easily available. Some birds in group flies a long distance up to 3000-5000 km for this reason to various southern countries.

 શિયાળાની શરૂઆત સાથે દૂર દૂર ઉત્તરમાં  રહેતા પક્ષીઓ માટે તેના દક્ષિણ તરફ ઉડાન ભરવાનો સમય પાકી જાય છે. એપ્રિલ થી ઓક્ટોબર દરમિયાન ઉત્તર ગોળાર્ધમાં કર્ક વૃત્ત ઉપર સ્થાનો ઠંડીનો અનુભવ કરે છે,  આ શિયાળાની  ઋતુ છે. રશિયા, નોર્વે, કેનેડા, ફિનલેન્ડ, ચાઇના અને ઉત્તર ભારત જેવા કેટલાક દેશોમાં આ મોસમમાં બરફ પડે છે, જેને કારણે તાપમાનમાં ઘણો ઘટાડો નોંધાય છે અને તે ઉત્તરમાં રહેતા પક્ષીઓના  ખોરાક અને આશ્રય શોધવા માટે મુશ્કેલરૂપ બને છે. કેટલીક પક્ષીઓ આને લઇને દક્ષિણ તરફ  ઉડાન ભરવાનું પસંદ કરે છે કે જ્યાં તાપમાન પ્રમાણમાં ગરમ છે અને ખોરાક સરળતાથી મળે છે. મોટા જૂથમાં આ પક્ષીઓ વિવિધ દક્ષિણ દેશોમાં આ કારણ માટે 3000-5000 કિમી જેટલો લાંબો પ્રવાસ ખેડે છે.


પ્રકૃતિનો આ ખૂબ જ જૂનો અલિખિત કાયદો, દક્ષિણના આ સ્થળોની  આસપાસ રહેતા લોકોને આ અદભૂત મહેમાનો ને માનવાની મહાન તક આપે છે. શિયાળાના આ મહેમાન નદીઓ અથવા તળાવ જેવા જળાશયો નજીક રહેવાનું પસંદ કરે છે.

રૂપાબાની  વાવ અથવા રૂડાબાની વાવને  "અડાલજ ની વાવ" તરીકે વધારે ઓળખવામાં આવે છે. આ વાવ, અમદાવાદ એરપોર્ટથી લગભગ 18 કિલોમીટર ઉત્તરના એક ગામ અડાલજમાં સ્થિત છે. 15મી સદીનું આ સ્થાપત્ય એક અજાયબી છે.

હિન્દૂ અને ઇસ્લામિક બાંધકામના સમન્વયને કારણે આ સ્થાપત્ય ઐતિહાસિક રીતે વધુ મહત્વ ધરાવે છે. આ વાવ પછી તે મુઝફ્ફર વંશના મહમુદ બેગડો દ્વારા પૂર્ણ થયું હતું જેનો શિલાન્યાસ અને પ્રાથમિક બાંધકામ વાઘેલા રાજવંશે કર્યું હતું.

Roopba's Vav or Roodaba's Vav is popularly known as "Adalaj Ni Vav". Vav is local name for Stepwell. This stepwell is an architectural wonder of 15th Centuary located at Adalaj, a quite village around 18 km north from Ahmedabad Airport, Gujarat, India.

It has higher historic importance due to amalgamation of Hindu and Islamic architecture in the construction. The stepwell took its first stone of construction by Vaghela dynasty which later it was finished by Mahmud Begada of Muzaffarid dynasty.

"Santaland - A day of An Elf " is an annual exhibition takes place at St. Paul/Minneapolis. At 8th floor of Macy's, Nicollet Mall, Down town, Minneapolis it was 51st show this year (2013).

Theme of the show is "A day in Life of Elf", exhibited through many animated puppets Elves doing various activities for their year end preparation. Entry to the exhibition is free but expect lot of queues in this holidays and especially during weekends. Exhibition starts a month before Christmas and ends on 24th December every month.

Group of three waterfalls situated at Canada and USA border is known as Niagara Falls. Largest of three falls is known as Horse Shoe fall due to its shape. This fall is situated within Canada border.

American Fall is second largest of three, while third and smallest next to American Fall is known as Bridal's Veil Fall due to its shape. Beautiful civil structure, Rainbow bridge situated opposite to falls is connecting American and Canadian borders.

કઠપુતળી, એક જૂની લોક કલાનો પ્રકાર છે. જેમાં લાકડાથી બનાવેલ ઢીંગલાં-ઢીંગલીઓને કપડાંથી સજાવીને તારથી બાંધી, જુદા-જુદા ખેલરૂપે  રજૂ કરવામાં આવે છે.

 

આ લોકકલા 1000 વર્ષ કરતાં પણ જૂની છે. જે મુખ્યત્વે રાજસ્થાનમાં ઉદ્ભવી હોય તેવું મનાય છે. આ લુપ્ત થઇ રહેલી મનોરંજક કલાને આજે પ્રોત્સાહન આપી, આ  પારંપરીક ધરોહરને સાચવવું જરૂરી બન્યું છે.
